God is Good and Loving
God's loving kindness
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 86:5, Proverbs 15:13, Mark 5:27-28 and Deuteronomy 33:27.
☀ Morning moment
For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
Psalm 86:5 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is good and kind. He loves to forgive us, and His love is big enough for everyone who calls on Him.
Your shoes are by the door, your bag is ready, and maybe your tummy feels a little funny about the day ahead. That happens to everyone, even grown ups.
Before you walk out the door, think about this. God is good. Not grumpy, not far away, just good. If you said something unkind to your brother last night, or forgot your homework again, God is still ready to forgive you. You do not have to carry yesterday's mess into today.
His love is like a big warm coat that fits you perfectly, every single morning. You can call on Him anytime, in the car, on the walk, during math class. He hears you.
Your turn
Before you leave the house today, whisper a quick "good morning, God" out loud, even just once.
✦ Lunch moment
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
Proverbs 15:13 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: When your heart feels happy, it shows on your face. When your heart feels sad, it can feel heavy inside.
Think about lunch today. Maybe you are sitting with friends, maybe you are eating fast because you only have a few minutes. Look around for a second. Can you tell who feels happy and who feels a bit sad, just by their face?
Your face tells a story, even when you say nothing. A smile can make someone's whole day feel lighter, like sunshine coming through a window. And when you are the one feeling low, it helps to know God sees your heart, not just your face.
Your turn
During lunch today, smile at one person near you, just because you can.
✩ Afternoon moment
having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd, and touched his clothes. For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.”
Mark 5:27-28 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: A woman who had been sick for a very long time believed that just touching Jesus' coat would heal her. So she reached out and touched it.
Imagine pushing through a crowd, like squeezing between people at a busy school pickup. That is what this woman did. She had been sick for so long, and nobody could help her. But she believed one tiny touch of Jesus' coat would be enough.
She did not need a long prayer or perfect words. Just one small, brave move forward. And it worked. Jesus felt it right away, even in that huge crowd.
Your turn
You do not need big or perfect words either. Jesus notices even your smallest reach toward Him. Today, whisper one small thing to Jesus, even just "help me" or "thank You", right before you start your homework.
☾ Evening moment
The eternal God is your dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms. He thrust out the enemy from before you, and said, ‘Destroy!’
Deuteronomy 33:27 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is like a strong, safe house where you can always live. His strong arms are under you, holding you up.
Tonight the house is quiet. Maybe you hear dad locking the door, or mom turning off the kitchen light. Everything is getting ready to rest, and so are you.
Think about strong arms, like when someone lifts you up high so you feel safe and nothing can make you fall. That is what God's arms are like under you right now, even though you cannot see them. He never gets tired of holding you, not for one single night.
You do not have to stay awake to keep yourself safe. God is awake instead, so you can close your eyes and rest.
Your turn
Before you fall asleep, whisper one quiet thank you to God for something good that happened today.
