God's Love and Kindness Today
God's Loving Care
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 118:28, Matthew 5:7, Luke 18:16 and Psalm 121:5.
☀ Morning moment
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you.
Psalm 118:28 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: This verse says: God, You are my God! I want to say thank You and tell everyone how great You are.
Your alarm rings, your socks are cold on the floor, and somewhere downstairs toast is popping up. It is Tuesday, there is school, there is your bag by the door. Before any of that really starts, you can say something quietly inside.
You can say to God, just like the verse says, You are my God. Not because you have to, but because it is true, like saying good morning to your best friend before you even brush your teeth. God is already awake, already glad you exist, already walking next to you toward school.
Your turn
Today, before you walk out the door, say one quiet thank you to God for something, your breakfast, your friend, or just this new day.
✦ Lunch moment
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Matthew 5:7 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus says it is wonderful to be kind to others. When you are kind, kindness comes back to you too.
Think about lunchtime. Maybe someone drops their tray, or forgets their lunch box, or just looks a little sad sitting alone. What do you do in that moment?
Jesus says being kind matters. Not just being nice when it is easy, but being kind even when someone made a mistake, or when they are annoying, or when they look different from you. That is being merciful. It means you give grace, like a soft landing instead of a hard one.
And here is something good. When you are kind to others, kindness has a way of coming back around. Maybe not right away, but it does. Friends remember who helped them.
Your turn
At lunch today, offer to sit next to someone who looks alone, or share something small with a friend.
✩ Afternoon moment
Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
Luke 18:16 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus wanted the children to come close to Him, even when others tried to send them away. He said God's kingdom belongs to children just like them.
Maybe today someone told you to wait, or said you were too small, too loud, or too young to help. Grown ups walk fast, and sometimes children get pushed to the side, even by people who do not mean to be unkind.
When Jesus saw His friends sending the children away, He did not let it happen. He called the children closer, right next to Him, where He could see their faces and hear their voices. Jesus never thinks you are too small, too young, or too much trouble for Him.
Your turn
Tonight at dinner, sit close to someone in your family and tell them one good thing that happened to you today.
☾ Evening moment
Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand.
Psalm 121:5 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is right beside you, watching over you like a cool shadow that keeps you safe.
Today was a busy day. Maybe you went to school, did homework, played outside before it got dark. Now the lights are turning off, one by one, and your bed is waiting.
Did you know God did not clock off when the sun went down? He is still right next to you, like a shadow that never leaves your side. You do not have to stay awake and check if everything is okay. God is already checking. He sees your room, your door, your whole house, and He is not sleepy at all.
Your turn
Before you close your eyes tonight, whisper one thing you are thankful for to God.
