God's Love Keeps You Safe
Loving care
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 36:7, Proverbs 15:1, Mark 5:41 and Psalm 139:12.
☀ Morning moment
How precious is your loving kindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 36:7 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God's love is so wonderful. People can feel safe close to Him, like little birds hiding under their mom's wings.
Your alarm goes off, and for one second you don't know what day it is. Then you remember, school, shoes, backpack, breakfast. Busy morning, right?
But before all that rushing starts, think about this. God is already awake. He was never sleeping. He has been watching over you all night, like a bird spreading its wings over its chicks to keep them warm and safe.
You don't have to carry today alone. God goes with you to school, to the playground, to that tricky maths test, to lunch with your friends. His love covers you like warm wings, all day long.
Your turn
Before you leave the house, whisper a quick thank you to God for this new day.
✦ Lunch moment
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: If someone says a soft, kind answer, the anger goes away. But a sharp word only makes people angrier.
Maybe lunch today is loud. Someone grabbed the last roll, or your little brother spilled juice on your drawing again. Your mouth is already halfway to saying something sharp.
But look what this little verse says. A gentle answer can turn anger away, like a soft breeze blowing smoke somewhere else. You do not need to shout to win. Sometimes saying "it's okay, here, have mine" does more than a hundred angry words ever could.
Your turn
This afternoon, if someone is grumpy or annoying, try one soft answer instead of a sharp one, and see what happens.
✩ Afternoon moment
Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha cumi!” which means, being interpreted, “Girl, I tell you, get up!”
Mark 5:41 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus held a little girl's hand who was very sick, and told her to get up. She woke up right away.
It's Friday afternoon, and maybe you feel tired from the whole week at school. Your legs feel heavy, your eyes want to close, and all you want to do is flop on the couch.
There was once a little girl who was so sick that everyone thought she would never wake up again. But Jesus walked right into her room, took her hand, and said, "Get up!" And she did. She stood up and walked around, as if nothing had ever happened.
Your turn
This afternoon, hold someone's hand for a moment and tell them that Jesus is never too late.
☾ Evening moment
even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.
Psalm 139:12 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Even when it's pitch dark in your room, God can still see you perfectly. For God, the dark is never scary, it's just like daytime.
The lights are off. Your room is dark and quiet. Maybe you can hear the house settling, or a car outside. It has been a long Friday, school is done, the weekend is almost here.
In the dark, things can feel a little strange. Shadows look bigger. Sounds seem louder. But here is something wonderful: the dark is never dark to God. He sees you just as clearly now as He did this afternoon at school. Nothing is hidden from Him, not your room, not your thoughts, not even your worries about tomorrow.
Your turn
You don't have to keep the light on to feel safe. God is already right here, watching over you like a parent checking on a sleeping child. Before you close your eyes, whisper one quiet thank you to God for today.
